SOGS Research Library

Our SOGS Genealogy Library is now located in our office at 1487 N. High St., Suite 450, in the North High Business Center, Hillsboro, Ohio Enter the building through the Health Department entrance. The  library will be available by appointment and by scheduled times.  If and when you visit Highland County to do ancestral research and want to use the library other than regularly scheduled you will need to make an appointment.  To make an appointment send an email to:  sogs414@gmail.com with the following information:  2. – 6. from below.  We will need a seven day advance notice of your need for an appointment.

  1. Our SOGS Library is open  Friday, 12:30 – 4:30.  If that does not fit your schedule we will try to schedule an appointment for you with one of our library volunteers.  If you need an appointment, follow steps: 2 – 6.
  2. Name of person requesting an appointment to do research in the library.
  3. Their e-mail address and a cell or land line phone number.
  4. Three choices of dates and times that you will be available to visit.
  5. One of our volunteers will then contact you and set a date and time for a visit.
  6. If you are able to visit on a Friday, 12:30 to 4:30 you will not need to make an appointment.  The  full schedule is listed on the home page.
  7. We have a copier available for you to use at 25 cents for members & 50 cents for non-members per page.
  8. Please bring change to pay for copies.
  9. You may photograph documents or use Your portable scanner.
  10. Our library houses over 600 local family histories.  We will also accept your local family histories.
  11. The Highland County Health Department is across the hall from our office/library where you can get birth and death records.
  12. We also have Highland Co. census records, tax records, property record indexes, wills and estate records and military records.
  13. We also have more that 1000 genealogy records of individuals who have been certified as First & Second Families of Highland County.
  14. We also have 85 SOGS publications available for purchase by cash or check. No credit cards accepted.
